Welcome to Summer 2024!

It’s nice that most of you know me. I’ve been coming up to Duck Harbor for over 65 years – Where did the time go?!

I can’t possibly be that old!

But, if I had to choose one place to grow old at, it would be Duck Harbor.

Not only did I get to enjoy my summers here as a kid with my family, picking blueberries, late night canoeing, helping ourselves to the apple trees at night when no one was looking, sleeping out in the hayfields and searching for Lure’s that fisherman got stuck in trees but I use to cry when I’d be put in the car to go back to school in September.

Later, after having 3 great kids, they were able to experience the lake on weekends with me, swimming, going off our notorious rope swing, playing bat and ball, swimming at the lake on July 4th to watch the 4 or 5 fireworks (this was before “the Woods” were here) and all kinds of worm hunting and fishing, The best gift was the Verizon tower was not available and they had no cell phone coverage. LOL!

What a gift!

I could go on and on about all the memories Duck Harbor has given me and the wonderful people it has brought into my life but you probably all feel the same way. And last summer, on June 24th , Jim and I married on our pontoon boat out on the lake and were lucky enough to have many of you attend.

Thank you! You all brought the sunshine on a day that started out pouring.

I met Jim as kids here many, many years ago….even made him brownies when I was 14 because I thought he was cute, but it took a long time for us to finally be together and we are grateful that Duck Harbor brought us together.

I’ve wanted to do a website and newsletter for a while now to keep us all connected. I hope you’ll enjoy this adventure and submit items that you hear about that we should all know about. It could be a craft fair, an auction, fireworks display, if you’re looking to sell something…anything local!

Again, this is OUR website and newsletter!!!

Hey, I’ll even post a funny joke you may have if it passes the Pat test! I also would love photos of critters, sunsets, and anything Duck Harbor that you’d like to share.

Thank you for your interest and you can always reach me at Patharrison10@gmail.com or text me at 858-231-5973.

Enjoy!
